Description

History

The Egly Ouriet maison was founded around 1940 around the end of the Second World War, when Charles Egly bought about three hectares of vineyards in the Grand Cru of Ambonnay. Over time, Charles Egly decided to expand his Maison by buying another eight hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay and in addition, another three hectares of vineyards located in the municipality of Vrigny have recently been added. Francis, grandson of the founder, with a lot of work and with a lot of attention to the smallest details has been able to bring the production of Champagne to the highest levels of quality, on a par with the other great Champagne Maisons.

Grapes used

Pinot Noir 70%

Chardonnay 30%

Production method

It is produced with the Champenoise Method, with two fermentations: the first in wooden barrels, the second in the bottle with the development of carbon dioxide to create the bubbles. The wine remains still for about a year and is bottled without filtering or sizing.

Tasting notes

It is presented in the glass with an intense golden yellow color. On the nose there are very present notes of flowers and yellow fruits. In the mouth it is fresh, light, persistent and with a lot of character. The final plaster note is not missing, which makes everything more valuable.

Possible combinations

Perfect for special evenings and important events, paired with oysters or sea bass tartare, it becomes a Champagne from another planet, a must-try.
