Description
History
Collosorbo is a Montalcino winery, founded in 1995 following the division of the Sesta estate. The property has belonged to the Ciacci family since 1850, which produced its first Brunello in 1966. The company is managed today by Giovanna Ciacci and her two daughters, Lucia and Laura. The estate is located in the southern area of the appellation, between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell’Abate, with 30 hectares of vineyards located approximately 250 meters above sea level. Thanks to the diversity of the soils, the Sangiovese parcels give the wine different sensations and nuances, which give life to perfumed, complex and balanced wines.

Production method
This wine is produced only in the best years. The grapes are harvested by hand in small baskets and a double selection takes place both in the vineyard and on a sorting belt. After a light destemming, an alcoholic fermentation is carried out in steel with long maceration on the skins thanks to indigenous yeasts. The refinement takes place in Slavonian oak and French oak barrels from 25 to 54 hectoliters for a period of about 3 years, with further refinement in the bottle for 8 months.

Tasting notes
Intense and dark garnet red colour. On the nose, an intense and elegant bouquet of spices, rich and varied: black pepper, tobacco, cloves, cinnamon, coffee. Notes of balsamic, minerality and wild berries, red fruit and dried flowers. Soft, broad, complex and structured with balanced acidity on the finish and ripe, silky tannins. Long finish.
Possible combinations
Brunello di Montalcino Collosorbo 2016 is a powerful and mature Brunello, which expresses its character in what is confirmed to have been an exceptional vintage in Montalcino. Ideal as a meditation wine, very long-lived, excellent on red meats or game or aged cheeses.
