Description
History
The Grattamacco winery and farm is located an hour’s drive from the ColleMassari Castle. The structure is located in the beating heart of the Bolgheri DOC denomination between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri in a raised position at 100-150 m, which enjoys a panoramic view of the Tuscan coast. The vineyards are naturally protected by Mediterranean scrub and caressed by sea breezes which deposit mineral substances on the ground and prevent the formation of molds harmful to the fruit. This particular terroir combined with the great knowledge in the wine field make Grattamacco an established brand worldwide.

Production method
The wine comes from a 2-hectare vineyard where the vines are trained with the sapling system. The grapes are harvested when optimal polyphenolic ripeness is reached at different times depending on the variety. Subsequently they are destemmed and softly pressed and the must is placed in truncated conical wooden vats for alcoholic fermentation in contact with the skins. The refinement is carried out in French oak barriques for 18 months, with a further refinement of 12 months in the bottle.

Tasting notes
Ruby red color with garnet hues. On the nose elegant bouquet of red fruit such as blackberry jam and ripe blackcurrant, with balsamic hints and cedar wood, notes of intense spices of licorice, dark cocoa, vanilla and toasting. In the mouth the wine is soft, enveloping, elegant and mature; balanced and enriched by sapidity, ripe tannins and acidity.
Possible combinations
In our opinion, Alberello di Grattamacco is a great meditation wine, practically perfect and balanced in every component and nuance; with the passing of a few years of rest in the cellar, it improves significantly, enriching itself with many nuances. In combination it is perfect with tasty and well-cooked red meats or with game, also excellent with stews and aged cheeses.
