Description
History
Franco Ziliani, founder of Guido Berlucchi, decided in the early 2000s to invest in the production of great red wines in the emerging area of Bolgheri in Tuscany. He bought the Caccia al Piano estate in 2003, after visiting the San Biagio vineyard. The company is located in Castagneto Carducci in the hamlet of Bolgheri, and was obtained through the restructuring of an ancient hunting fief owned by the Della Gherardesca family dating back to 1868. Franco’s children, Cristina, Arturo and Paolo, have and are continuing the exploration work of the Bolgheri area.
Production method
A scrupulous and accurate selection of high quality grapes from the San Biagio vineyard is carried out, which represents the most prestigious cru of the estate and one of the most renowned in the entire Bolgheri area. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, both vines have adapted perfectly to the ideal conditions of this enchanting corner protected by the woods, managing to best express their character, structure, elegance and aging capacity

Tasting notes
Intense and impenetrable ruby red colour. On the nose notes of ripe fruit such as cherry, marasca cherry, raspberry, blackberry and blueberry, with herbaceous notes of eucalyptus and mint, minerality and spices such as tobacco, black pepper, vanilla and sandalwood. In the mouth the taste is full, enveloping, soft and warm. The final part of the sip reveals a fresh acidity and ripe tannins, with a good flavor probably due to the influence of the sea. In combination we see it very well with red meat dishes, such as grilled meat or even more complex game dishes.
Possible combinations
In combination it is excellent with well-structured first courses with meat sauce or with red meats in general. Also excellent with selections of medium-aged cheeses.
