History

Founded in 1999, Tenuta Argentiera is located in the southern part of the Bolgheri DOC area, on the hills of Donoratico, reaching a maximum altitude of 200 meters above sea level. From here, you can admire a panorama of vineyards and a variety of terrains that extend to the sea horizon of the Tuscan Archipelago.

The name of the estate is a tribute to Podere Argentiera, which was already present in the land registers of the Grand Duchy. Since 2016, the company has been led by Austrian entrepreneur Stanislaus Turnauer, who owns 80 hectares of land. This choice was determined by a deep love for this land. Tenuta Argentiera’s approach is based on cohesive teamwork and the ability to transform the international point of view and the respectful evolution of a territory into wine.

Production method

The top quality grapes are harvested manually and then carefully selected using a double sorting table. During the winemaking process, each grape variety is treated separately. Bolgheri Rosso Villa Donoratico follows a fermentation and maceration process in stainless steel tanks for approximately 20/25 days, maintaining a constant temperature of 28°C. Subsequently, aging takes place in 225 liter French oak barriques for approximately 12-14 months, also completing the malolactic fermentation. After bottling, the wine is left to mature in the bottle for a further 10 months.

Tasting notes

Intense ruby red colour. On the nose you can clearly notice the aromas of red fruits, such as currants, raspberries and cherries, followed by light notes of sweetness that recall exotic aromas. The bouquet gradually evolves towards spicy and balsamic tones of licorice and eucalyptus. In the mouth, this wine presents an elegant structure, characterized by silky and well-defined tannins. The aftertaste is persistent, enriched by intense aromas, and the finish is fresh and mineral.

Possible combinations

Perfect with structured first courses or second courses based on red meat or game, even cooked for a long time, or with medium-aged cheeses.
