The family history of the Bruno Clair domain is quite complex and articulated, as often happens in Burgundy estates. The viticultural origin of the family dates back to the beginning of the 19th century and Bruno is the representative of the sixth generation of winemakers. His grandfather, Joseph Clair, originally from Santenay, married Marguerite Daü in 1919, who cultivated vineyards in Marsannay-la-Côte. Joseph Clair acquires vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin (including Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze and Cazetiers), Morey-Saint-Denis (including Bonnes Mares) and Chambolle-Musigny. In 1954 the company was renamed as Domaine Clair-Dau and vineyards were gradually acquired throughout the Cote des Nuits. The Domaine as we know it today was established in 1986 and today the children of Bruno and Isabelle are also engaged in the company with their roles: Edouard, Margaux and Arthur.
