Description
History
Il Giglio in Lastra a Signa, at the beginning of Chianti, founded in 1973. Today it has been owned since 1985 by the Cicali family of Sparla&Gerardi, who will also create today’s Il Giglio brand in honor of its proximity to splendid Florence.
Grapes used
Tuscan Trebbiano
White Malvasia
Production method
The grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand and left to dry on mats in rooms called vinsantaie. The must obtained is then placed in casks where a natural and slow alcoholic fermentation begins; the product will remain in the barrel for at least 3 years or more depending on the vintage.
Alcohol content
15.5%
Tasting notes
At sight it has a deep and bright amber color. On the nose peach and apricot jam, honey, vanilla and other sweet spices. Viscous, soft and well-structured in the mouth, with a pleasant acidity and length on the finish.
Possible combinations
Vin Santo del Giglio is indicated as a meditation wine at the end of a meal, traditionally paired with classic Tuscan cantucci. If you want to try a pairing, we highly recommend it with apricot or peach tarts, fig desserts or cream desserts.
