Description
History
Flor de Caña is a family-owned distillery with over 130 years of history, founded in 1890 in Nicaragua. Located at the base of the San Cristóbal volcano, the country’s most active, its unique climatic conditions contribute to the distinctive character of their rums. Flor de Caña is also known for its commitment to sustainable production, utilizing renewable energy and eco-friendly practices.
Production method
- Raw material: Molasses from sugar cane cultivated in plantations adjacent to the distillery.
- Distillation: Distilled in six columns to reach an alcohol content of 77.5%.
- Aging: Seven years in American white oak barrels previously used for bourbon, sealed with dried plantain leaves, without the addition of sugars or artificial ingredients.

Tasting notes
- Color: Intense amber with golden highlights.
- Aroma: Intense aromas of dried apricot, dates, raisins, and almonds, with spicy hints of cinnamon and vanilla.
- Taste: Enveloping and structured, with notes of orange zest, dark chocolate, and honey, balanced by a slight warmth and a long, clean, dry finish with a subtly smoky trail.
Possible pairings
Perfect enjoyed neat or on the rocks, it is also suitable for classic cocktails like the Cuba Libre or Old Fashioned. Pairs well with desserts featuring dark chocolate, dried fruits, or caramel.
