Description
History
Thibault Liger-Belair took over his historic family estate in Nuits-Saint-Georges in 2001, reviving a winemaking heritage deeply rooted in Burgundy’s history. His philosophy focuses on expressing individual terroirs through careful vineyard management and winemaking practices that respect the identity of each parcel. La Charmotte is located in the northern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, close to the border with Vosne-Romanée. This location contributes to a style combining the characteristic structure of Nuits-Saint-Georges with remarkable elegance and aromatic delicacy.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified according to Thibault Liger-Belair’s approach, which focuses on preserving Pinot Noir’s purity and the expression of its terroir. Fermentation involves gentle extraction to achieve a balanced tannic structure without compromising fruit freshness. Subsequent ageing in oak barrels helps develop aromatic complexity and harmony while maintaining the elegant character of the La Charmotte vineyard.

Tasting notes
Bright ruby red in colour. The nose reveals elegant aromas of cherry, raspberry and small red berries, complemented by violet, subtle spice and delicate earthy nuances. The palate is harmonious, juicy and refined, with fine tannins, refreshing acidity and beautifully balanced structure. Fruit flavours mingle with mineral and spicy notes, leading to a persistent and well-balanced finish. A Pinot Noir that emphasises finesse without sacrificing depth.
Food pairings
Excellent with roast duck, pigeon, veal, pork tenderloin and white meats served with mushrooms. It also pairs beautifully with porcini risotto, truffle dishes, terrines and soft or medium-aged cheeses. Its elegance makes it particularly suitable for refined cuisine, where delicate ingredients allow the wine’s aromatic nuances to shine.
