Description
History
“Pian del Ciampolo” is Montevertine’s more approachable label, made from a small 1.5‑hectare vineyard replanted in 2003 with east‑northeast exposure. Grapes are 90% Sangiovese plus small contributions from Canaiolo Nero and Colorino. The 2023 vintage benefits from a balanced climate that allowed good ripeness while preserving acidity. The wine is fermented in cement vats, then aged 12 months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by several months in bottle before release.

Tasting notes
Bright ruby red colour. On the nose wild strawberry and cherry, violet, rose petals and light smoky aromas. On the palate it is fresh and vibrant, with good acidity, pleasant tannins, medium body and a satisfying finish—fruit‑driven and fairly long.
Food pairing
Goes well with tomato‑based pasta, roasted white meats, cold cuts, mushrooms, medium aged cheeses. Serve around 16‑18 °C, with a short decant to help aromatic opening.
