Description
History
Le Pergole Torte is Montevertine’s flagship cuvée, first produced in 1977 as the first 100% Sangiovese wine in Radda in Chianti. The historic vineyards planted between 1968 and 1999 supply the best grapes for this label. The estate, acquired by Sergio Manetti in 1967, has always employed traditional methods: slow fermentation in concrete, extended maceration, and maturation in Slavonian oak barrels and barriques. The 2022 vintage stands out as balanced, with ripe fruit, adequate acidity, and well‑integrated tannins.

Deep ruby red. On the nose there’s black cherry, ripe red fruit, dried flowers (violet, rose), dark oriental spices, balsamic and earthy hints. On the palate it is full‑bodied, with silky but firm tannins, fresh acidity balancing the fruit, good depth and elegance, and a long finish with fruity and spicy echoes.
Food pairing
Ideal with roast red meats, elegant game, braised dishes, rich sauces, and well‑aged cheeses. Serve at about 17‑18 °C.
