Description
History
Fattoria La Leccia is located in Montespertoli, in the heart of the Florentine hills, one of Tuscany’s historic Chianti-growing areas. The estate follows a sustainable approach in both the vineyard and winery, focusing on expressing the identity of Sangiovese with minimal intervention. This Chianti Superiore is the winery’s signature wine and perfectly reflects the character of its territory.
Grape variety
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
The grapes are hand-harvested during the coolest hours of the day before being destemmed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts. Maceration lasts approximately 18 days, with daily pumping-over and délestage. After malolactic fermentation, the individual vineyard lots are blended and aged for 7-8 months on the fine lees, followed by stabilisation, summer bottling and approximately 6 months of bottle ageing.
Alcohol content
13.5% ABV.
Tasting notes
Bright, intense ruby red with purple highlights. The bouquet offers aromas of violet, raspberry, pomegranate and plum, complemented by delicate hints of black pepper, pink pepper, liquorice and clove. On the palate it is fresh, balanced and persistent, with rounded yet vibrant tannins and lively acidity that provide elegance and excellent drinkability.
Food pairings
An excellent match for Tuscan appetizers, cured meats, crostini, pappardelle with meat ragù, lasagne, grilled red meats, Florentine steak, roasted meats, medium-aged Pecorino Toscano and many traditional Tuscan dishes.
