History
Istine is a relatively young estate, yet already among the most acclaimed names in Chianti Classico. The vineyard for this Gran Selezione lies between 480 and 550 meters above sea level, on rocky, well-drained soils, planted in 2002 and organically farmed. The 2021 is the first vintage released as a Gran Selezione, highlighting the winery’s commitment to expressing the single vineyard at its best. The vintage, marked by warm days and cool nights, produced grapes with balanced ripeness and great aromatic intensity.

Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and long maceration on the skins; aged in large neutral oak casks of about 20 hl to preserve purity of fruit and freshness of Sangiovese, without influence of new oak.

Tasting notes
Bright ruby color. On the nose: ripe cherry, black cherry, lavender, mint, aromatic herbs, and a distinct mineral touch. On the palate: vibrant with fine, well-defined tannins, lively acidity, full body yet elegant texture, and a long savory finish with hints of almond and forest floor.
Food pairing
Pairs beautifully with hearty Tuscan dishes such as braised beef, roasted meats, game, truffle dishes, or aged cheeses. Decanting recommended, serve at 17-18 °C.
