History

Hampden Estate is a historic and ancient distillery in Jamaica with over 260 years of history behind it. Its rums represent the best of the tradition of Caribbean and island spirits. The best sugar plantations are selected within the estate which, after distillation, age for 8 years in the tropical climate of the island, which is equivalent to approximately 25 years of maturation compared to the colder and drier European climate.

Production method

To produce an “industrial” rum (this is what the rums produced in the islands of former Spanish domination are called) molasses is used, which is often nothing more than the residues of sugar beet after processing for the production of the latter. This is then fermented, a must is created and distilled. Subsequently these can be aged in wood and then created a blend of rums of varying degrees of aging in order to find a perfect balance.

Tasting notes

Amber and bright color. On the nose a fruity profile with notes of brown sugar syrup and dried banana. On the palate it stands out for its great freshness, with accents of mint, tropical fruit, exotic fruit and vanilla. The finish is long and soft, with hints of licorice and orange peel.

Perfect at the end of a meal or for meditation.
