Description
History
The Conterno family is a legendary name in traditional Barolo. Cascina Francia, purchased in 1974 by Giovanni Conterno, is the estate’s beating heart: an outstanding cru in Serralunga with calcareous‑clay soils and southwest exposure. From here come both the Barolo Vigna Francia and, in top vintages, the iconic Monfortino. The 2021 vintage was balanced, yielding healthy and perfectly ripe grapes. The wine underwent traditional vinification with extended maceration and was aged in large Slavonian oak casks, in keeping with Conterno’s historic methods.
