Description
History
Château Villefranche is located in the renowned Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux, historically celebrated for its noble sweet wines made from grapes affected by Botrytis cinerea (“noble rot”). The region’s morning fogs followed by sunny afternoons create ideal conditions for botrytis, concentrating sugars and aromatics in the grapes. The wine is crafted using traditional methods, with careful fermentation and ageing to enhance depth and finesse.
Grape variety
Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon
Vinification
Grapes are hand-selected when affected by Botrytis cinerea and naturally concentrated on the vine. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place with careful temperature control. Ageing in oak barrels develops complexity and harmony, followed by additional bottle ageing prior to release.

Tasting notes
Deep golden yellow with amber highlights. Aromas of dried apricot, wildflower honey, syrupy peach, candied ginger, vanilla and sweet spice. On the palate: rich and enveloping, with a perfect balance of natural sweetness and lively acidity, full body and a long, fruity, embracing finish.
Food pairings
Pairs beautifully with foie gras, delicate terrines and pâtés, fruit-based desserts like tarte tatin, vanilla cream desserts, spiced biscuits, dried fruit and blue cheeses like Roquefort or sweet Gorgonzola. Also excellent with white chocolate or caramel-based desserts.
