Description

History

The history of the Domaine begins with Fernand Morey, who after the First World War, in 1919, returned to his hometown and began to cultivate the few hectares of family land. Thanks to his determination, in the 1930s he began to bottle and sell the first wines, gradually expanding the surface area of the estate. In 1944, his son Marc joined him in the work and the company took the name of Domaine Fernand Morey et Fils. In the same years, a new cellar was built for the refinement of the wines. In 1977, Fernand’s daughter, Marie-Josèphe, and her husband Bernard Mollard took over the reins of the company, which took on the current name of Domaine Marc Morey et Fils. In 1997, a commercial company, SARL Domaine Marc Morey, was also founded, which allowed the purchase of grapes from other winemakers, thus expanding the range of wines.

Although there are three Moreys in Chassagne-Montrachet, this domaine is undoubtedly the most beloved. Their wines are classy, among the best in the appellation for their elegance and their capacity for aging. Since Bernard Mollard took charge of them, they have acquired even more qualitative stability.

Production method

The vineyards are cultivated following a sustainable agronomic approach, with a rigorous adherence to the lutte raisonnée and a limited use of treatments, favoring the use of organic products to respect the environment. The vinification is carried out in a traditional way, adopting a minimally invasive approach in the cellar. During the aging phase, the wines are cured using French oak barrels, with a proportion of new wood that varies from 25% to 30% depending on the characteristics of the vintage.
