Description
History
The Chartogne-Taillet Maison, located in Merfy in the Montagne de Reims, is a historic winery known for its emphasis on terroir and respect for tradition. Alexandre Chartogne, the current head of the estate, is renowned for his artisanal approach and meticulous attention to detail, evident in every bottle produced.
Grapes used
- Predominantly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a small percentage of Meunier (percentages vary depending on the blend).
Production method
- Harvest: Handpicked, with rigorous selection of the best grapes.
- Vinification: Fermented in stainless steel and wood to preserve freshness and add complexity.
- Aging: Aged for a minimum of 24 months on the lees to develop structure and flavors.
Alcohol content
12.5% vol.
Tasting notes
- Color: Golden yellow with fine and persistent bubbles.
- Aroma: Aromas of green apple, citrus, white flowers, with hints of bread crust and hazelnut.
- Taste: Fresh and lively, with a creamy texture, well-balanced acidity, and a long, mineral-driven finish.
Possible pairings
Perfect as an aperitif, pairs beautifully with oysters, seafood, sushi, fish tartare, and fresh cheeses. Also excellent with dishes featuring chicken or white fish.
