Description

History
Castello di Ama is a historic winery in the heart of Chianti Classico, renowned for its focus on vineyard quality, attentive winemaking and respect for terroir. The estate combines sustainable agricultural practices with a winemaking philosophy centred on elegance and finesse, producing expressive wines with distinctive personality. Chianti Classico stands as a core expression of the estate’s commitment to quality and tradition.

Grape variety
Sangiovese 100% (or predominantly Sangiovese typical of Chianti Classico blends)

Vinification
Hand-harvested grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Extended maceration extracts colour, tannins and varietal aromas. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in stainless steel and/or medium-sized wooden barrels to preserve fruit, structure and freshness, followed by bottle rest before release.

Alcohol content
Approx. 13.5%

Tasting notes
Bright ruby red. Aromas of red fruits (cherry, plum), subtle floral notes and delicate spice, with hints of aromatic herbs. On the palate: fresh, harmonious and well-balanced with soft tannins, lively acidity and a persistent finish echoing fruit and spice.

Food pairings
Pairs wonderfully with ragù pastas, grilled white meats, light roasts, charcuterie, gourmet pizza and semi-aged cheeses. Also excellent with Tuscan regional dishes and refined Mediterranean cuisine.

Castello di Ama

Founded around the 70s thanks to the vision of four families of Roman origin, with the aim of revitalizing the area and the vineyards and giving the Chianti Classico the fame it once had. The vineyards extend over an area of about 75 hectares at an altitude ranging from 475-520 m which are the cradle for wines of character. Today the leadership of the company is entrusted to Lorenza Sebasti, daughter of one of the owner family who has taken over the management of the company since 1993. Today it is affirmed among the most dynamic realities of the Chianti Classico, capable of blending together local grapes with international vines, for results of elegance and finesse both in the mouth and on the nose.
