Description
History
Umani Ronchi is one of Central Italy’s leading wineries. Casal di Serra was created in the early 1980s by selecting the finest grapes from the Montecarotto vineyard and later complemented with fruit from other outstanding Verdicchio sites in the Esino Valley. The organically farmed vineyards lie between 200 and 350 metres above sea level on deep clay-limestone soils of Pliocene-Pleistocene origin.
Grape variety
Verdicchio 100%.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand from late September to early October. After gentle pressing, the free-run juice is rapidly cooled and clarified by static settling. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 16–18 °C for 10–15 days without malolactic fermentation. The wine then ages for approximately five months on its fine lees in stainless steel before bottling, gaining richness and complexity while preserving freshness.
Alcohol content
13%.
Tasting notes
Bright straw yellow with golden highlights. The bouquet reveals intense aromas of wildflowers, peach, apricot, medlar and Golden apple. On the palate it is rich and velvety, balanced by lively freshness and pronounced minerality. The finish is dry, persistent and intensely fruity, showcasing the classic elegance of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi.
Food pairings
Ideal with grilled fish, shellfish, seafood pasta, fish stews, roasted white meats and fresh cheeses. Its richness also makes it an excellent partner for refined Mediterranean cuisine.
