Description
History
The Destiladora de Alcoholes y Rones Sociedad Anónima (DARSA) is a prominent distillery in Guatemala, known for producing high-quality rums often used in sweeter solera blends. This bottling, curated by That Boutique-y Rum Company, represents a rare opportunity to savor a 14-year-old Guatemalan rum, aged for four years in Guatemala in ex-bourbon casks and the remaining ten years in the United Kingdom, offering a unique perspective on an unblended component before the solera system’s influence.
Production method
Distilled in 2008, this rum was initially aged for four years in ex-bourbon casks in Guatemala’s tropical climate. It was then transferred to the United Kingdom for an additional nine years of aging, allowing for maturation that combines the influences of tropical and continental climates. Bottled at a cask strength of 57.2% ABV, it retains the integrity and complexity of its natural flavors.
