Description
History
Il Monticello is located in Sarzana, between Liguria and Tuscany, in the heart of the Colli di Luni appellation. Founded by the Neri family, the estate has become one of the region’s benchmark producers thanks to its commitment to sustainable viticulture and authentic terroir expression. Groppolo, named after the locality where the winery is based, is the estate’s historic Vermentino and best reflects its house style.

The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place at low temperature in stainless steel tanks, followed by ageing exclusively in stainless steel to preserve freshness, aromatic purity and the characteristic saline character of Colli di Luni Vermentino.

Tasting notes
Bright straw yellow in colour. The bouquet reveals intense aromas of white and yellow orchard fruits, ripe citrus and delicate floral notes. On the palate it is fresh, balanced and lively, supported by vibrant yet elegant acidity and a pleasant saline finish that lingers beautifully.
Food pairings
Excellent as an aperitif, it pairs beautifully with raw seafood, oysters, shellfish, grilled or baked fish, pesto pasta, seafood risotto, fried seafood, white meats and Mediterranean vegetarian dishes.
